The tears flowed and for once there was real emotion on the face of 'The German Running Machine'... He really makes a true 'Champion' in every sense of the word... and he's a totally humble person too, which makes his victory all the more pleasurable.

Congratulations Rainer - what an incredible finish. I don't know how anyone can ever beat that. The whole fifteen days were quite exceptional. I'm just sorry that you did not see the UK at its best but we certainly saw the best as you conquered the Jogle in style.

ReplyDeleteGreat achievement, much admiration for all runners brave enough to take on the challenge. I've really enjoyed following the blog, first thing I check every time I log on! Perhaps one day....one step at a time though, need to run my first marathon first!

ReplyDeleteWe saw the runners (by chance) from the comfort of our campervan somewhere near Fort William and then again at Loch Lomond and I was compelled to look up the event. I have been hooked following their progress online since.
It's been exiting and inspiring- thank you. I wish this got more coverage in the UK.

And for sure, also many thanks to the crazy organizers for setting up such an horrible Ultra runner journey. But they take so good care of all runners, that pain is largely compensated by positive feelings.
